Coding in Java Workshop
Upon completing our free two-day workshop series, students will understand the basics of coding, including the four components of computational thinking, variables, data types, arrays, conditionals, and loops, and how to use them.
By the end of this workshop, you will build a basic app (rock paper scissors game) that can be used as a reference to build your own project for the Technovation GirlsBC 2022 competition (note: participants do not have to be enrolled in the Technovation Girls program).
Location: BCIT Downtown Campus, 555 Seymour St, Vancouver, BC
Schedule: Saturday, March 26, 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM and Sunday, March 27, 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM
Lunch will be provided each day (Tacofino and Railtown Cafe).
Eligibility for participation:
- Participants must be between the ages of 13 to 18.
- Participants must identify as female, trans, nonbinary or gender nonconforming. Why?
- Participants should have a laptop to bring to the workshop (we do have a limited number available for loan, please email eram1@bcit.ca to reserve).
